Printmaker & Creative

After many years of working in the field of Psychology I decided to take a break and explore printmaking, which I had always been interested in. Five years ago I attended Exeter Art College to study Screen Printing and I was hooked. This was followed by three years of exploring more printmaking techniques in Bude with Printmaker Sophie Fordham.

I am lucky enough to live on the Devon/Cornwall border 8 miles from the beautiful beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay. My work is inspired by the area I live in. I take inspiration from my garden, local hedgerows and of course the coast. I work mainly from photographs and sketches, which inform my final work. I use a variety of printmaking techniques depending on what I'm working on e.g. linocut, screen printing, drypoint etching, collograph, carborundum, ecoprinting and gum arabic.

I often work with either ecoprinted fabric or paper. The ecoprinted paper is often used as a base for overprinting with linocuts, dried leaves and flowers, seaweed and gum arabic. I use this technique with materials gathered from my garden or my local area. Due to the process of hand printing there will be minor differences in colour and print placement however the positive in this is that each piece of work is unique.

I hope you enjoy my website and my work and that you will find something that will bring you joy. Happy looking!
